Bickley 3rd XI back to winning ways at Warren with a superb team spirit.

After overcoming selection crisis Bickley hosted Bromley Common CC at a local derby with opposition skipper Dave winning the toss and putting Bickley to bat on a warm sunny day. Bickley had a fresh looking squad with two youngsters making their debut Finn Horner opening the batting with Sahil Chug and Chug to his surprise was clean bowled on the first ball of the match with a terrific Yorker from Dean Trendler making the batsman’s to think about what to expect next. However young opener Finn along with returning Bickley batsman Samit Sudarshan took control of the bowlers to build up a solid partnership of 60 runs and provide Bickley the platform needed, Finn made a solid 21 on his debut before being caught out by De campo’s bowling .Samit looked unstoppable and went on to score a fantastic knock of 69 before being awkwardly ran out by Barry with a wrangle on the pitch. The tail provided a much needed support and Bickley managed to get 186 runs losing all wickets in 39.1 overs.

Bromley common openers made a steady start making it harder for chug and youngster Tom hardy to get any breakthrough, however the much needed wicket came on the 12th over with Chug getting Warne’s wicket. Skipper decided to take charge of the bowling along with spinner Sahil Bhagat to ensure a quick breakthrough of wickets and to his amusement guided by three spectacular catches, one definitely to mention by Jeremy Frost in the 1st sleep made Bromley CCC to struggle at 52/5 with Sunny Saikia ending his spell at 4/30 and Sahil 2/21. Bromley CCC hardly had any chance to come back although the 8th wicket put up a partnership of 40 runs but Tom day finished the match in style by taking his first debut wicket on his 10th over leaving Bromley at 129/9 in 40 overs.

A big win for Bickley and definitely some more to come!! With confidence Bickley looking forward to face top of the league Wickham CC at their home turf.
