Report
BPCC 2’s made it 2 defeats from 2 with a disappointing display away at Old Colfe’s.
Winning the toss and electing to field, BPCC made regular early breakthroughs to leave the oppo reeling at 65/4 when the first rain break came, with captain Crowdy claiming 3 wickets. In all truth, this should have been more, with several catches going down. Old Colfe’s responded well however, with captain R. Patel and N. Singh combining low down the order, with 49 and 34 respectively, to drag them up to an over par 182 all out off their 40 overs. Special mention to Ben Adamson and Chris Jacob who bowled really well in the middle overs.
In response, Holcombe and King battled hard (25 and 36) to set up the innings in tough conditions. However, with the required rate climbing, and faced with accurate Old Colfe’s bowling, both departed, with no one else able to stick around long enough to make a proper game of it, falling to 120 all out. Well bowled Iftkhar Jalil who picked up 5 wickets.
Disappointing start to the season, but with the youngsters showing talent, I’m confident when the senior players stand-up we will see a turn around.
