Report

Following his wonderful opening spell against HSBC last week, they were delighted to hear that Leo had been called up to the 2nd XI. Their delight, although it didn’t last long, was at Canterbury’s expenses!
As for the 3’s, Sunny actually finally won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. This despite an early start and only players actually present!!!! A great opening spell from Vishesh and the skipper saw HSBC reduced to 36-4, with each taking two wickets. Sunny could have had a third, but unfortunately for him (and his wallet – finesmaster take note) Jack’s neat take at seconds slip was on the only no-ball of the innings!
A brief recovery saw the innings labour to 61 before Jack, replacing Sunny at the top end, scythed through the lower order taking four in four overs. A great stop from the ever-youthful Hainsworth at mid-on and equally smart piece of covering combined with a tempered pick up and throw from Mark Hardy put paid to another. Yawar finished things off with as perfect a leg stump yorker as you will ever see, and HSBC were done and dusted in exactly 25 overs.

The HSBC bowlers were always going to struggle to defend such a small total, and so it proved with Simon Davis carrying on where he left off last week. Ably assisted by Marcus, Bickley posted 26 for the first wicket before Marcus was bowled by the guile and experience of Keven Dare. Simon looked like he would carry his bat for both innings against HSBC but was finally undone – caught in the deep – with just 9 required. Chris Jacob joined Manav to see us home by 8 wickets in only the 16h over.

A very profitable two weeks for BPCC earning 38 points. Next week we travel to Old Roan, who sit second in the league with a game in hand and will provide a stern test for a team brimming with confidence and playing well. Bring it on!
