Report
There are few things in life better than the Lordswood Club in Chatham on a sunny Saturday. We got off to a slow start against Lordswood’s four man pace attack, but when Mitch was joined by Dan the tempo soon increased. Dan made 28 and Warren 33 with two sixes apiece, while Mitch played the anchor role and batted three hours for his excellent 112. Adeel hit another monster six in the closing overs and we closed on 237-8, a competitive score but not one that put the game beyond doubt.
Lordswood got off to a good start, but Warren struck twice in his first over to peg them back. The third wicket fell to a run out, and that brought the Lordswood skipper Chris Piesley to the wicket. He took twenty off one over to put his team ahead of the rate required, but at the other end Michael took three wickets in four overs to keep us in the game.
By now, the game was sure to go one of two ways – either Lordswood would reach the target, or they would be bowled out. Unfortunately for us it was the first of those things that happened, but we won’t go too far wrong if we reach 230 every week and take seven wickets every week.
