Report
On another hot Saturday, we went to bottom placed Bromley Common looking for the win which would all but confirm another season of Premier League cricket. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out quite like that.We had a good first hour. Warren took two early wickets, while Ollie had the prolific Leigh Walker well caught by Michael. But from 44-3, the next pair added 99 and the middle order all contributed to see Bromley Common to a total of 264. It could easily have been more, but Dan kept it tight in the middle of the innings, while Warren (4-49) took two more wickets and also made two run outs in the closing overs as Bromley Common were bowled out off the last ball of their 50 overs. You’re never going to be favourite when you walk out to bat chasing 265, but a good wicket and short straight boundaries meant that the target was in no way out of reach. But we lost wickets regularly, and never looked like challenging for the win. Warren and Adeel were both belligerent but all too briefly, while Alex Darroch rarely looked in trouble but ran out of partners with 49 to his name as we were dismissed for 153.All the same, the other results worked in our favour and we stay in sixth place. Bexley are our next opponents and they don’t have a great record at the Field of Dreams, so let’s beat them this week and move into cricket week in winning ways!
