Report

Bickley Park 2nd 11 secured the title on Saturday with a comfortable win against Bexleyheath, to conclude an excellent season.

Batting first on a questionable surface, Cooper and Monoghan produced a solid opening partnership, reaching 52 before Cooper fell. Useful contributions from Patel (25) and King (37) increased the run rate, and Monoghan duly went to his 2nd 50 in 3 games, with the Welling FC background music bringing out some flair rarely seen from the big man. A final score of 191-9 seemed slightly above par, and so it proved.

Aimey and Williams did the early damage, sharing 4 wickets in economical spells that left Bexleyheath reeling at 30-4. Hewitt and Crowdy accounted for the rest, ensuring an early finish (and early drinks) for the victorious BPCC team. It could have been even earlier if some of the team had got their catching right – no names required!

Once again huge thanks for Jack Horner who stepped in to carry out umpiring duties in a very professional manner!

An excellent season all-round, congrats to Crowdy and King for their excellent captaincy this season, and to the whole squad who all contributed at times. Onwards and upwards with Division 1 beckoning next season. Perhaps the 2s can follow the 1st team in securing back to back promotions to the Premier League. We shall see…
