Bickley needed to bounce back quickly from last week’s debacle at Sidcup, and did this in style, securing a comfortable 8 wicket victory over HSBC.
Losing the toss, Bickley got off to a wayward start with the ball, until returning captain Crowdy accounted for the first of his 3 wickets, with the ball turning and bouncing sharply to take the outside edge. This set the scene for some excellent spells from Williams, Poole and Ramsey, who split the rest of the wickets amongst them. HSBC did get off to a reasonable start, but imploded, being eventually skittled for 129 on a good batting wicket.
Bickley never looked in-doubt chasing such a modest total, with Green (54) and Cooper (29) getting off to a flier. Patel and King duly got the job done, both not out, as the total was chased down with relative ease.
Next weeks game, away at St Lawrence, is crucial, with 1st playing 2nd in a game that will see the winner have a fantastic chance of securing promotion. It won’t be for the faint hearted that’s for sure.
