Report
Bickley got away with one, big time, as they burgled a victory against struggling Old Colfes to maintain their promotion push.
Batting first, Bickley lost both openers quickly, and it took firstly Howes and secondly King to rebuild with solid contributions. The rest of the order, however, failed to make an impact, resulting in a well below par 153 scored, on a pitch doing a bit but with small boundaries and a rapid out field.
Old Colfes got off to a flier in response, reaching 60-1 and 90-2 and had the game seemingly in the bag. Howes and Stafford wrestled back some control with good spells, picking up 4 and 3 wickets respectively, aided by some ridiculous fielding from Green (3 catches, 2 run outs), including a Ben Stokes-esque catch in the gully, which might be the best live catch this writer has seen.
Bickley scraped the win by 7 runs, and maintain their top of the table status, and certainly showed plenty of fighting spirit. Some runs wouldn’t go amiss though.
