Report
BPCC 2nd 11 arrived at Old Colfes in high spirits, despite an indifferent start to the season, and managed to put in a more complete performance to claim their first victory of the season.
Losing the toss, BPCC were asked to bowl first on a green looking wicket. Old Colfes came out playing their shots, and Aimey managed to take 3 quick wickets. It was a strange innings, some batsmen came out all guns blazing, others barely venturing away from a forward defensive. Ultimately, Old Colfes got up to a competitive score of 170 all out in the final over, and can be indebted to captain Singh who struck an enterprising 45, as well as handy contributions from Alapati and Adolophe. Chris Hewitt returned ridiculous figures of 1-5 from his 10 overs, with Aimey and Russell claiming 3 wickets each, Stafford with 2.
In return, Cooper and Crowdy got BPCC off to a solid start, before Crowdy had his stumps re-arranged with one that kept low. King soon departed as well, albeit slightly unfortunate as his pull shot was plucked out of thin air when it always looked likely to sail for a boundary. Cooper fell one short of 50, however Ramsey continued his good work, timing his innings well to guide BPCC home with 1 over to spare, ending up on 43*.
Next up for BPCC, a home game against local rivals Sidcup. If they are able to finally put in a good fielding performance, I wouldn’t bet against another 18 points next weekend.
