Report
The famously fickle English weather halted Bickley’s winning streak at Goddington Dene against Orpington CC.
Rain had fallen on and off through the start of the match and after a quick discussion with both skippers decision was made to carry on. On an overcast condition with light rain, Bickley won a crucial toss putting Orpington to bat.
Simon Davis return from a back injury along with Sunny Saikia, provided pace and accuracy which restricted Orpington to 40/2 in the first 16 over’s. Orpington’s opener M. Reade looked comfortable at one end scoring 26 runs while wickets continued to fall at the other end as return of Bickley’s reliable guest all rounder Edward Woody Sanderson from Hong Kong destroyed Orpington’s middle order along with Sahil Chug both taking 27/4 and 24/2 respectively halting Orpington to reach 105 in 33.5 over’s losing all wickets .
Bickley fielded superbly taking some spectacular catches in a patchy and challenging outfield. Bickley were 25/3 in 7 over’s chasing a low total of 105 when consistent rain made it impossible to carry on with dangerous conditions and match was abandoned sharing equal points.
Confident Bickley will host Dulwich CC at Warren next looking to continue the positive run.
