BPCC 2nd 11 made the trip down to Folkestone for their final away game of the season, with the game following a similar trend to previous weeks!
Again, the batting was pretty abject on what was a firm, hard pitch, with a rapid outfield. Franks-Moore (26) showed some initial fight before young MacPherson, on debut, batted beautifully for a well-made 39. Hewitt, defying his years, batted well again for 37*, putting on an enterprising 9th wicket standard with captain Crowdy. 177 all out, looked at least 50 runs short, and alas so it proved.
Folkestone in response never really looked in doubt, winning with just 4 wickets down with 12 overs to go. Crowdy bowled beautifully, taking 3 quick wickets, which briefly made the game interesting and MacPherson got the prized scalp of an extremely talented young Folkestone all-rounder to cap an excellent debut.
Certainly some positives, and more importantly the 3s secured promotion.
Thanks to Tony for travelling down to umpire and for Matt Russell who kept really well despite being injured and having not done it before.
Final game against local rivals Bromley next week at home. Let’s end with the performance we are capable of.
