Report
After the narrow defeat at Sevenoaks and the rain which came with Beckenham, we were keen to get a win under our belts when Blackheath came to the Field of Dreams.
Ryan got us off to a brisk start, and then Alex Fullarton and Mitch took us to 111-1 before Alex fell for 35. Mitch went on to 67, but the middle order fell away a bit and at 188-7 with six overs to go we needed some quick runs. Adeel and Philip made sure that we got them, and Adeel hit a monstrous six straight over the trees and onto the road. Scores in the Premier are higher than we’ve been used to in recent years and 234-8 didn’t put the game out of sight, but it certainly gave us an excellent chance.
Xav struck early to get rid of George Wells, but Blackheath still reached 59-1 off the first ten overs. Adeel hit the stumps in his second over though, and that led to a middle order collapse from Blackheath. Michael bowled the dangerous Tanweer for 55, and soon Blackheath were 133-6.
In Div One that’s game over, but not in the Premier. Jahid hits a clean ball, and did so several times to take his team to 216-8 with 5.1 overs remaining. He didn’t need to play a shot to Adeel’s final ball of the day, but he did and was bowled. Dan took the final wicket four balls later, and we had won by 17 runs. A great win in a good game, and we also got a good idea of the standard we can expect this year.
