Report

We won by 77 runs at Tenterden.  That result condemns Tenterden to relegation, while it also means that we are certain to be the Borough of Bromley’s highest placed team, a thing we have never been before!

We didn’t make a great start, and after 11 ovcrs we were 29 for 3.  Alex Darroch and Warren took the score to 99 before Alex was run out for 45, and Warren was then joined by Adeel.  That pair put on 155 at better than six an over.  Adeel hit eight 4s and seven 6s in his 97, while Warren’s 85 included six 4s and four 6s.  After that we somehow managed to lose four wickets in the last two overs of the innings, but our 258 for 8 was still a formidable total.

Tenterden’s opening pair are both good players, and set out to give their team the start they needed.  They had taken the score to 74 off just 13 overs before Vernon was deceived by Philip and gave Michael an easy catch.  The next pair took the total past 100, but the Australian Mosca was keen to take most of the strike and so he called for two after playing the ball to short third man.  Don’t take two to Gordon, Mr Mosca; it had to be a direct hit, it was a direct hit, and Mosca was on his way.

The captain Price who came in at 4 has a Premier League double hundred to his name, and certainly considered that the game was still within Tenterden’s reach.  Michael’s first ball of the day wasn’t the best he has ever bowled, and Price aimed at the deep square leg boundary – where he was well caught by Alex Fullarton.  That was about that as Tenterden lost their last eight wickets for 63, and Adeel took the last six wickets for 37 as we won comfortably.
