Report
Bickley Park 1st XI were delighted to be back playing home cricket after a long sabbatical, on the back of a thumping 160 run victory over Sidcup the previous week. Old Wilsonians certainly played their part in what was an absorbing game of cricket.
Winning the toss, and understandably (considering the heat and flat deck), Old Wilsonians opted to bat first, and soon found themselves in a spot of bother. X Darroch did much of the early damage, returning superb figures of 3-26 off 9. With the score at 92-5, on a bit of a road, things looked promising for BPCC and ominous for Old Wilsonians. However, captain Mitchell and Sherlock had other ideas, both posting 50s and compiling an excellent 103 run partnership, to help Old Wilsonians get to a respectable 227-8 off 45 overs. Probably slightly below par, but a brilliant recovery setting the game up nicely for the second innings.
Fullerton and Holcombe carried on with form shown last week, putting on a quick 50 before Holcombe departed. Singh played an exciting cameo, but Fullerton and Imitiaz scored the bulk of the runs, both compiling measured 50s, with some excellent running and, of course, a Fullerton ‘6’ into the trees. However, both departed in quick succession, starting a ‘Bickley collapse’, which saw the scores slip to 184-6 and 212-7. Cool heads from Ridley and Browning got the job done, with 11 balls remaining, in what was a good game of cricket for the neutral.
Next week we welcome Orpington, and having so far won 2 with 1 incomplete, will be hoping for another solid performance as we push for the semi finals.
