Report
BPCC welcomed HSBC in the Plate Semi Final playoff and, on winning the toss, inserted the opposition on a juicy one.
X Darroch and Benn bowled tight opening spells, with the ball doing plenty, and both picked up an early wicket. Golbourn and Slater, however, rebuilt well, with the latter compiling an excellent 72, which was the underpin of his sides score of 177/7 off 45 overs. Benn and Browning both picked up 2 wickets, and captain Magin bowled a hostile spell down the hill.
HSBC dibbler Wheddon took a couple of early wickets to dent Bickley’s run-chase, but Magin had other ideas, opening the batting with a couple of absentees. With excellent support from first Saf Imitiaz and then A Darroch, he shrugged off his bus driver tag to compile an excellent 93* and drag his side to victory. The highlight though, was Smith coming in with 23 still needed and hitting the winnings runs after a composed innings. Both HSBC openers, Hassan and Wheddon, were a real threat picking up 2 wickets each, but ultimately Bickley won 5 down with 7 balls to go.
Next week we play Bromley Common with the winner taking out the plate cup, so plenty still to play for.
