Saturday Round Up - 16.5.25

Here's a summary of this Saturday's matches:

BPCC 1st XI vs Dartford CC:

The First XI travelled to Hesketh Park to take on Dartford CC in their second game of the season. With the 1s losing the toss, they were put into bat. In the first over, we saw both openers get dismissed without scoring a run. Immediately on the backfoot, the skipper was left to rebuild earlier than expected. A strong partnership between S.Imtiaz 129 (120) and N.Reifer 70 (118) salvaged the innings, putting on 189 runs before the next dismissal. But the damage wasn't done yet. In came R.Frylinck who scored a quickfire 84 off 48 balls, smashing 4 sixes off of the final over. This led to BPCC putting up a strong total of 299/7 off of their 50 overs. With a big run chase ahead, Dartford had to try and start strong; and this was evident in their number 1 bat who scored 93 off 120, just shy of his century. However, the strong BPCC bowling attack didn't hold back. Key batsmen were dismantled throughout the innings, with every bowler contributing. Key bowlers included M.Mian 2/32 (8) and S.Yar Zeb 4/43 (10). In over 39, once J.Monaghan took the key wicket of the opener, the game's fate was well and truly sealed. Dartford fell 89 runs short of the total, being all out for 211 in the 46th over.

Outstanding result for the 1s which puts them up to 4th.

BPCC 2nd XI vs Roebucks CC:

After a narrow defeat against Old Colfeians CC last week, the Second XI were looking to get back to winning ways at home against Roebucks CC. The 2s won the toss and elected to bat. The early wickets of our openers left J.Randle and M.Khatri to rebuild at just 15/2. Both Joe and Manav proceeded to reach their half centuries with the score being 138 before the next wicket fell. This left the middle order with some extra work to do. The skipper, H.Stafford coming in at 5 scoring a commendable 43 and J.Ramsey putting on an extra 25, which left the 2s at a defendable 233/5 (40). A strong bowling attack was just what the 2s needed, they took some key wickets early on with E.Du Toit dismissing their opener and number 3. Roebucks continued to fight, with their number 2 and 4 putting on 73 runs between them, attempting to rebuild and chase down the target. Their number 5 was also edging Roebucks closer to that total, scoring a solid 57. However, this effort wasn't enough as Roebucks fell just 16 runs short of victory, thanks to the restricting bowling of K.Kapoor 2/37 (8) and J.Ramsey 2/48 (8).

A great result for the 2s, bouncing back from last week's defeat.

BPCC 3rd XI vs. Dulwich CC:

After last week's outstanding performance against Mallu CC, the 3s were confident and looking to extend their unbeaten streak. With bad weather forecasted, the game was reduced to 32 overs. Dulwich won the toss and elected to bat first. Dulwich came out confident, but only 2 balls into the second over, V.Mantri dismissed their number 2. Just as their number 1 looked to build a partnership, the ball is cut to backward point where D.Saunders takes an outstanding one-handed grab down to his left. The 3s felt well and truly on top from this point. However, the introduction of their skipper meant that the job was not over. Despite the consistent bowling attack from the top 4: S.Davis, V.Mantri, S.Paine and B.Hume, Dulwich dug deep with their skipper and a young number 3 both reaching their half centuries. In the 26th over, B.Hume dismissed the skipper and this restricted the run rate. This left Dulwich with a small but very defendable total of 161/4 (32). C.Swann led the batting attack, taking singles and piercing gaps in the field striking 35 (40). A few early wickets of the 3s strong top order left J.Harris to clean up. Jacob's big striking put massive pressure on Dulwich, gaining 56 (63). The loss of Jacob's wicket left M.Aimey to attempt to finish the job. His late striking in the 30th over consisting of 3 4's left the 3s needing 7 in the last 2 overs. The late tactical decision by the skipper to bring B.Hume up the order proved extremely effective. He hammered 2 boundaries including a 6 to win the game in the 31st over.

Brilliant effort from the 3s with everyone contributing, keeping them unbeaten in 3.

Great results all round for BPCC this Saturday with the first 3/3 of this season.
